This winter, Kaspersky is bringing back GReAT Ideas, a series of online events to showcase the company’s latest cybersecurity findings in a cozy, friendly atmosphere. Our first winter season event is organized by security researchers from Kaspersky’s Global Research and Analysis Team (GReAT), that works on uncovering the most sophisticated and advanced threats such as APTs, major malware, ransomware and cyber-espionage campaigns around the world. The first event of the winter GReAT Ideas is set for December 2 and we will return with more enthralling discussions in January and February.

This time, the series of online talks will give participants an insight into the GReAT team’s work. Inspired by the regular team meet-ups held internally, “GReAT Ideas. Powered by Croissants. Baguette edition.” will kick off with a fireside chat about recent cyber-incidents that shook the world. The researchers will provide an overview of the predominant cybersecurity issues and share the details of the most scandalous cases.

The GReAT Ideas special Baguette edition will feature presentations by our Paris-based GReAT team as we all need a bit of French charm in our lives. The event will officially open with a fireside chat with Warren Mercer, Technical Leader at Cisco Talos and Brian Bartholomew, principal security researcher in Kaspersky’s GReAT.

For two hours, Kaspersky’s GReAT security experts will present their most recent research, projects and discoveries. Pierre Delcher will expose more details about the most recent malware and delivery chain, dubbed PowerPepper, created by the DeathStalker hacker group. Next, our security expert Ivan Kwiatkowski will introduce the basics of reverse engineering Delphi applications, with practical examples based on samples from the Bahamut threat actor.

Last but not least, Felix Aimé will present an ongoing project “TinyCheck” which is aimed at facilitating the detection of stalkerware and other malicious spyware installed on mobile devices. Each talk will last 15 to 20 minutes and participants will be able to ask our GReAT experts any questions at the end, which is a perfect opportunity for those who are planning to build a career in cybersecurity.

“When we first launched the summer series of GReAT Ideas, we wanted to bring the cybersecurity community closer and support everyone with social activities that we were lacking at the time. Great Ideas was intended to fulfil this gap and bring the community together. The initiative proved to be needed and received extremely positive feedback, which is why we decided to come back with a new round of now-improved events – with even more discussion and hands-on practical content”, comments Sergey Novikov, the deputy director of Kaspersky’s GReAT.

The event will take place on December 2, 2020 at 14:00 GMT. Register for the webinar free here.
