Kaspersky Lab and Mensa are inviting Internet users to take part in a very special challenge over the summer with the help of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and Formula One’s most successful racing team Scuderia Ferrari.
The Global Think Test is made up of a series of online brain games, quizzes and puzzles, specially created to let participants hone their combination and calculation skills.
As the online world is increasingly populated with threats, common sense plays an extremely important role. Users need to be able to identify a potentially dangerous situation quickly – and often that means acting contrary to our normal instincts. As social beings, we are led by basic principles such as trust, authority, helpfulness, curiosity and reciprocation, all of which can be abused by cybercriminals. Therefore, we need to train our brains to make the right decisions fast, and Kaspersky Lab has designed the Global Think Test to see if users have what it takes.
“Being alert and focused can help you win computer games, but can also help you keep cybercriminals at bay. We can avoid so many threats by simply being alert,” says Eugene Kaspersky, Chairman and CEO Kaspersky Lab. “If something is too good to be true, it most probably is. And in most cases there are tell-tale signs that a website is fake. If you’re not distracted by other things and are trained to stay focused, you should be able to spot them.”
The Global Think Test website is packed with all sorts of brain-training games, puzzles and IQ tests to help participants flex their mental muscles. And it also gives everyone the chance to register for our big competition – Global Think Test Day – and win the grand prize.
September 6, 2014 is Global Think Test Day, when a worldwide online challenge invites all participants to put their brainpower to the ultimate test and go head-to-head with some of the best brains in the world. The winner of this challenge, the person who gets the highest score in the shortest time, will become the Kaspersky Global Think Test Champion and win the grand prize of US $25,000 in cash. The name of the winner will be announced on September 7, 2014.
The unique content for Global Think Test has been created by world recognized brands.
Mensa, the oldest high IQ society in the world, brought intelligence to the platform. Dozens of challenges, brain-teasers and IQ questions were created with the support and accreditation of Mensa and will help to test the participants' cognitive skills.
“The Global Think Test is an innovative way to engage with people who are passionate about solving challenges and think in unconventional ways. Mensa is extremely happy to be involved with this project and hope that many of the participants will discover their potential and consider joining the Society, wherever they are in the world,” commented Michael Feenan, Executive Director at Mensa International.
Ferrari, which last year chose Kaspersky Lab as IT security provider, prepared specially designed Ferrari Formula One related content in the form of games, puzzles and video tests so participants can stick with their favorite motorsports team even while honing their thinking skills. Ferrari also offers some fantastic prizes, including a pair of racing gloves signed by Fernando Alonso and Kimmi Räikkönen and an all-expenses-paid trip to the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix.
Much like the unrelenting competition in Formula One, being safe online is an ever changing landscape as the threats become ever more complex. As the percentage of time we spend online continues to increase, we need to be even more alert to the potential threats that this environment lends itself. New skills are needed for this environment in which base human instincts are exploited for criminal gain. Kaspersky’s Global Think Test combined with its Ferrari Formula One content is an engaging way in which the online community can challenge themselves whilst learning to protect themselves, so when it comes to online security, you can be in Pole Position for Protection!” commented Neil Martin, Head of Operations Research Department at Scuderia Ferrari.
Sachin Tendulkar, Kaspersky Lab Brand Ambassador, also supports the Global Think Test and presents his own tasks and video questions. The winner of Sachin’s personal Sudoku challenge – ‘Tendulko’ – have the chance to win a signed bat from “The God of Cricket” by earning enough points to top the leader boards.
Everyone who takes part is guaranteed at least one prize – a trial version of the new Kaspersky Internet Security – Multi-Device security solution. It’s an easy-to-use, one-license, multi-platform solution that protects virtually any combination of PCs, Macs, Android smartphones and Android tablets.
All Global Think Test content is in English, but the competition is open to participants all over the world.
